Welcome Fellow Foodies!

I’m a foodie, I admit it. We (myself and The Man) eat out on the weekends and love trying new restaurants, so I hope this blog will help people find some great restaurants around town and to help them avoid wasting precious time and money on the duds.

The Orange Dog

This place needs to decide if it’s dive bar, restaurant, or a pet boutique (they sell designer pet supplies here, as well) and then run with their decision.  Based on their food and service I would choose Dive Bar.

Their menu is wings with some BBQ stand outs. While the Pulled Pork Quesadilla was good, The Man said his burger was very salty and he never thinks anything is too salty. I originally ordered the Waffle Battered Chicken wings and was so disappointed that they just tasted like burned deep fried chicken. I asked the waitress if I could get something different instead. After checking with her manager I opted for the Canadian Wings (maple & bacon) which were definitely better. However, I was surprised the manager never came over to our table to check on whether the replacement meal was better. I’m guessing the bar flies at the bar he was tending were much more important than first time customers.

We won’t be back.

Slater’s 50/50

Slater’s 50/50 is off the hook! Bacon is the word of the day here, everyday. From the Signature 50/50 burger, which is 50% beef and 50% bacon, to the bacon brownies, bacon is used to the fullest (heaven!).

The Bacon BrownieCan you hear the Angels singing!?

My burger of choice is the Peanut Butter and Jellyousy burger – No Bun. That’s right, beef, peanut butter, strawberry jelly, and bacon! Your head will not understand why this works, but your mouth will love it.Peanut Butter and Jelly Buger – No Bun

Now, The Man’s go to burger is his own concoction…1/3 lb Fireburger, Fried Egg, Onion Rings, Bacon (not too crispy) and Chili. And the hotter the better on the Fireburger. Come on ice cream!

The atmosphere is always casual and upbeat and the owners (Scott and Brad) are usually strolling around or pitching in with the servers, if needed. Slater’s is always busy, so be prepared to wait. It’s worth the wait!
